Types of cancer

Cancer is a group of diseases characterized by the uncontrolled growth and spread of abnormal cells. There are many types of cancer, including:

  1. Carcinomas: Carcinomas are cancers that start in the skin or tissues that line organs, such as the lung, liver, and breast.
  2. Sarcomas: Sarcomas are cancers that start in the bones, cartilage, fat, muscle, blood vessels, or other connective tissues.
  3. Leukemias: Leukemias are cancers of the blood-forming tissues, including the bone marrow.
