Interview with Riti Gupta: Riti Gupta is one of the best food blogger from Patna. Riti always creates awesome content on her Instagram handle. We had a great discussion while Interview with Riti Gupta.
Amar Ajnalkar: Tell our readers about yourself?
Riti Gupta: Hi! Much love to those reading this. I am Riti Gupta. Besides being a budding lawyer by profession, I am a food blogger too. My passion for food got me into blogging. My page is about home-cooked food. @rustic_home_food is the name of my page. I started this page on 10th May 2019. The idea behind this page is -“you can cook everything you get in lavish restaurants or on the street.”Food makes people happy and satisfied. In the end, we all work hard at least to have good, proper meals to survive. Ask them who really can’t even afford a day’s meal, and we must be thankful to God that at least we can make or buy food of our choices and satisfy our hunger. Well, the best thing about food is that it joins different people, community together. Also, it generates revenue in the economy. Different food symbolizes a different community. That’s the power of food and that’s why I love food and decided to become a food blogger.
Amar Ajnalkar: How did you come up with the name for your Instagram account?
Riti Gupta: My page mostly has home-cooked food which has a rustic touch to it. It’s not beautifully presented like those in restaurants and cafes. We on an everyday basis do not spend hours to beautify or glorify our platter or meals, so I decided to name my page as @rustic_home_food. It represents everyone’s kitchen and surely everyone can relate to their – “Maa ke haath ka khana” After looking at my page.
Amar Ajnalkar: What is the best thing about being an influencer?
Riti Gupta: Being an influencer is tough and challenging as You meet new people and have to cater to a large number of audience of every age, sex, location. That’s what makes it the best thing for me as I have a challenge in front of me that I have to cater to this large audience and grab their attention. Also, I have to present something new, unique and simplify things at the same time. Also, I try to provide recipes for most of my posts and that’s something I love. when someone appreciates my hard work and this makes me feel happy and pushes me to work hard each day.
Amar Ajnalkar: What is the best collaboration experience that you have done with a brand?
Riti Gupta: I don’t promote every brand with the sole motive that if I don’t use or like the brand I won’t promote it and that’s why till date I have worked for two brands only. My experience was really good, I enjoyed using those products and only after using them, I gave my honest review. I can’t be fake. People are smart enough to guess whether it’s a fake promotion or a genuine one. If I fake a collaboration, the trust which people have on me will go at once, and they won’t believe me in future as well. So be realistic and true to your work and that’s how more brands will approach you sooner or later.
Amar Ajnalkar: How many hours a day do you work and hows your daily schedule?
Riti Gupta: There’s no specific time as to how much I work. It varies on an everyday basis. I am the sole creator, promoter, worker of my page who handles everything of my own. So it’s a tedious job which needs a lot of planning. You have to look at the insights of your post each day and work accordingly. You have to see what works more for your page and what doesn’t. On average I spend a minimum of 4-5 hours which includes planning about the post, editing the caption, content, picture or video, posting it and reviewing it. Being honest, My day begins with Instagram and ends with Instagram. I check my comments, likes, shares, stories etc on an everyday basis which starts as I get up and I enjoy doing it.
Amar Ajnalkar: Has the influencer profession affected your family life? if yes then how?
Riti Gupta: Yes, everything comes with a price tag, nothing is for free. Either you have to spend your money or time or dedication. When I started my page, obviously none took it seriously including me but when I started seeing the response from my Audience, I decided – not to stop so soon. And that was challenging. I was 24*7 on my phone. My parents complained about it, they were not happy as they saw me using the phone day and night. They scolded, taunted me, etc, but now ironically they don’t, After seeing my followers increasing and my relatives too enjoying my posts and complimenting my posts. I think all Indian parents need approval from their relatives and society (Kidding).
Amar Ajnalkar: What motivates you in life?
Riti Gupta: Every day is brand new, and everything teaches you something or the other. You just need to grab it and use your time wisely. Also, the response which I receive from my friends, relatives and family makes me happy. That’s what motivates me to work more each day and not to stop.
Amar Ajnalkar: What are your favourite books or movies related to your niche?
Riti Gupta: Well my choices of books and movies are not related to my niche. I love food and that’s one thing, I like reading books and watching movies or series, That’s another thing. But surely I like watching videos, series or reading blogs, techniques or about different cuisines and learning them. I always end up watching many YouTube videos related to food, recipes and new techniques and trying them as well.
Amar Ajnalkar: What surprising lessons have you learned while influencing?
Riti Gupta: People will hate you and love you at the same time. you just need to keep your calm and not lose it. Also do not indulge in worthless fights. Haters gonna hate. no one will see your hard work but they will be surprised to see you grow eventually.
