Amar Ajnalkar: Tell our readers about yourself.
Nehalika Chavan: I am working in this field from last 7 years. For me helping people is not my profession it is my passion. I hail from a middle-class family. I used to witness that in our society everyone is suffering from their own problems. Fighting their battles. Some people are struggling alone without any support. Some are lucky enough to get the support of their family, friends. I always wanted to do something for those who are fighting alone. So I decided to extend helping hand to those people. When I started my journey only thing that was in my mind was I just want to help people. I didn’t know How it would go to work but I started the journey and today I am here
Amar Ajnalkar: What is the best thing about being a Social Worker?
Nehalika Chavan: The best thing about being social work is you can sleep peacefully. It gives a different kind of satisfaction which no profession in the whole world can give you. And the blessings you get are like the cherry on the cake. Being a social worker you can be the wealthiest person in the world not in terms of money but in terms of blessings, happiness.
Amar Ajnalkar: Is social work/human right work schedule affected your family life? if yes then how?
Nehalika Chavan: Yes the schedule of social work affects my family life because I can not give enough time to my family, friends but everyone who knows me they can understand that I am working in such a field where you have to be very dedicated. As all my family members and friends are very understanding I can work freely.
Amar Ajnalkar: How many hours a day do you work and hows your daily schedule?
Nehalika Chavan: I work 24/7 .because you can not fix a specific scheduled for social work. You have to be on duty each and every minute. Wherever I may be, whether I am with my friends or family I always stay ready for helping others. Social work can not be done within fix time or schedule. You do not know when someone needs your help in that case you have to be prepared.
