Amar Ajnalkar: Tell our readers about yourself?
Farhana Islam: Hey! This is Farhana. I am a fashion and travel blogger who is yet to find her calling!! Besides studying, I am doing an internship and I own a small business. I love to paint and travel. I am a cyclist and love to read books too.
Amar Ajnalkar: How did you come up with the name for your Instagram account?
Farhana Islam: Meem is my nickname though my family members and close people only call me by that. I just added the “ochi” part with it cause it sounds good I guess. When I came up with that name everyone liked it so I kept it.
Amar Ajnalkar: What is the best thing about being an influencer?
Farhana Islam: Definitely the followers. My followers are kind of like my family members. They know a lot of things about me and support me consistently. They also push me to do better. Also, I get to meet and interact with a lot of people from different places. I enjoy that a lot.
Amar Ajnalkar: What is the best collaboration experience that you have done with a brand?
Farhana Islam: I am currently working with some local brands and to be very honest I love working with them all. These brand owners are very nice and friendly. They always value my opinions.
Amar Ajnalkar: How many hours a day do you work and hows your daily schedule?
Farhana Islam: There is no fixed time. Sometimes I work a whole day and sometimes it only takes 1-2 hours. I don’t really like taking pressure.
I don’t have any fixed schedule. I am a student so I have to keep that in mind too. But somehow I manage to do everything on time.
Amar Ajnalkar: Is the influencer profession affected your family life? if yes then how?
Farhana Islam: No definitely not. My family is very supportive so until now I haven’t faced any kind of problems.
Amar Ajnalkar: What motivates you in life?
Farhana Islam: I love my parents. I am the only child of my parents so all their expectations are from me. I always want to make my parents and my family proud of myself. I have some certain goals. These things really motivate me in life.
Amar Ajnalkar: What are your favourite books or movies related to your niche?
Farhana Islam: I love the movie “Yeh Jawaani hain deewani” and “Zindegi na milegi doobara”. They inspired me to follow my dreams and do what I love to do.
I love Chetan Bhagat’s “One Indian Girl” and also I am a big fan of the “Princess Diaries series”.
Amar Ajnalkar: What surprising lessons have you learned while influencing?
Farhana Islam: It’s sad but true that sometimes people judge you not based on your contents but based on your followers. So it becomes really hard for beginners to succeed in this field. Also if you have good connections with people from brands, that helps you in blogging.
Amar Ajnalkar: Top 3 skills required to become a successful influencer.
Farhana Islam: To me, one has to be creative, original and regular to become a successful influencer
