Medhavi is a Lifestyle and Travel Influencer. She has recently crossed 35 thousand followers on her Medhavista Instagram page. She started creating digital content since 2018. We had a great time discussing and Interview with Medhavi.
Amar Ajnalkar: Tell our readers about yourself?
Medhavi: Hey, I’m Medhavi. Currently I’m in my final year of Ph.D. in Cinema Studies from School of Arts and Aesthetics, Jawaharlal Nehru University. I’ve been an avid writer since the very beginning so I chose a career that was about writing and research. I research about films, their genres, and theories to build new theories and find new things. I started blogging around two years back in 2018 and it was just with a single motive, that was to share my ordinary life and inspire people with my writing. I always made a point to not put in a lot of effort to run my page and tell people how easy it is to be yourself. Accepting yourself as you are and changing for good is a thing that a large percentage of the world needs to understand and learn. So I write in each of my posts and make sure that people are interested to read it and maybe try it in their own lives.
Amar Ajnalkar: How did you come up with the name Medhavista?
Medhavi: I wanted to find a domain name that defines me and how I am. Because I wanted my page not to be limited to lifestyle, travel, food or anything but my life in general, so chose the handle name which was personalized with my name and Instagram, hence, “Medhavista”.
Amar Ajnalkar: What is the best thing about being an influencer?
Medhavi: The best thing about being a blogger is that you connect to a large audience in a virtual form. You share your stories and get to know how much influence you have on a thousand lives. You learn new things yourself from the blogger community and grow as an individual every single day. Brands eventually approach you when your influence gets stronger and it’s a great feeling to promote and market their hard work so that people also try your experiences.
Amar Ajnalkar: What is the best collaboration experience that you have done with a brand?
Medhavi: The best Collaboration by far has been with “Bioderma” as they personally connect to their influencer and run some lovely contests. On every occasion, be it Diwali, Holi, Christmas, etc. They send stuff to their listed influencer and never force them to post a review but build their relationship with the influencer community for the greater good in the long run.
Amar Ajnalkar: How many hours a day do you work and hows your daily schedule?
Medhavi: For my blog I work almost every day. I click pictures every now and then and keep editing them and preserving them for posting in the future. My daily schedule was a little different before as I was teaching at Delhi University till the last year so it was hectic. Currently, it’s very flexible as I’m full time into my PhD so I get enough time for my blog. My Ph.D. submission is due this year and I have applied for new positions too. But no matter what happens, I’ll balance my blogging and career, but wouldn’t ever choose blogging over my career. My career really matters. I’ve studied a lot to reach here. I actually hold 10 Academic degrees.
Amar Ajnalkar: Is the blogging profession affected your family life? If yes then how?
Medhavi: Not really. They are very happy and proud of what I’m doing. They’ve been very supportive from the very beginning so nothing of that sort.
Amar Ajnalkar: What motivates you in life?
Medhavi: My mother as she’s 65+ and still works on something or the other to build herself. She’s up to learn new things every single day. I want to be like her !
Amar Ajnalkar: What are your favorite books or movies related to your niche?
Medhavi: None.
Amar Ajnalkar: What surprising lessons have you learned while digitally influencing?
Medhavi:
1) “Saves” and “Comments” matter more than “likes”.
2) Only 1/2 of your followers get to see your content.
3) Content matters more than the quality of the picture/ video and the Instagram algorithm is hard to understand.
4) Connecting with your followers is important.
Amar Ajnalkar: Top 3 skills required to become a successful influencer.
Medhavi: Patience, honesty, and hard work.
Amar Ajnalkar: Hows your experience with Amar Ajnalkar?
Medhavi: I had a very good experience with Mr. Amar Ajnalkar. This is going to be my first interview as an “influencer” so it means a lot to me. I am very thankful to him for this amazing opportunity.
Amar Ajnalkar: Two lines for our reader.
Medhavi: If you’re good at anything, start writing about it. People want to know your story, for pretty pictures there are already millions of influencers in the world. Build your place by being unique and the best thing and easiest too is by sharing your personal views and thoughts.
