1.Vadapav :

It’s a vegetarian fast food dish native to the state of Maharashtra. It is very popular in Mumbai, everyone can afford this street food from a very common person to businessman. This dish is made by deep-fried potatoes placed inside the bread /bun which is sliced into equal half parts.  Ashok Vaidya opens the first Vada Pav stall opposite to Dadar station, the craze is not limited up to India now but it’s also becoming famous in different countries. When you visit Mumbai, you will feel the love people have for vada pav.

2.Puran Poli :

This is one of the most favorite food of Maharashtra. Mostly Puran Poli is made whenever there’s any festival in Maharashtra. There is rarely any festival that is celebrated without the Puran Poli. A festival is just incomplete without a Puran Poli in the meal. It just tastes amazing. Not only Maharashtrian people love Puran Poli, but many visitors who visit Maharashtra can’t skip Puran Poli from their food and they too fall in love with the amazing taste of Puran Poli.

Its made up of chana, plain flour(wheat flour), jaggery/cane sugar and cardamom powder. In Maharashtra, mainly in summer, when everybody is crazy about mangoes, Puran Poli is served with somewhat a kind of thick juice made from mangoes, made at home by squeezing the juice out of mango and by adding a little bit of sugar in it (aamras what we call it in Maharashtra). They both taste superb together. It is also served with butter which too tastes delicious. Maharashtra food without Puran Poli is incomplete.

3.Misal :

Every single person is just so in love with the taste of misal. The spicy taste of misal is just wow. It is one of the fav food of Maharashtrian people, Its a curry made from matki(moth beans) or dried pea or mung beans, People have misal for their breakfast, A day started with a superb taste of misal, with a lemon squeezed in it, it’s like amazing. It is served in Maharashtra with bread. Thinking about misal is like you want it right now cause it tastes awesome. You can never say no to misal when it’s right in front of you

4.Shrikhand :

The main ingredient for making shrikhand are yogurt (Dahi), sugar, cardamom/saffron. It tastes sweet with a little bit sore taste which just gives you a rich flavor and also tastes good. When u order Maharashtrian thali, you will surely have shrikhand served in it, Its texture is soft and creamy. Amrakhand is a popular variation of shrikhand, it is made by mixing mango pulp with shrikhand which too tastes amazing. Shrikhand is a very popular food in Maharashtra. It is served with puri(chapati), which tastes too good.

5. Pav Bhaji :

Its origin is in the state of Maharashtra. It’s a kind of fast food. Ingredients used in pav bhaji are,  tomatoes, onion, potatoes, and other vegetables are cooked together adding some spices and a thick curry is made.  It is served with soft bread, Lemon.  Butter spread on pav bhaji add more taste to it. This tastes super together. 

6.Pohe(Flattened Rice) :

Pohe is the most favorite breakfast of every maharashtrian.when its time to make it’s too easy and quick, consumes hardly 10 minutes. Whenever we have a guest at home we prefer making pohe. They are served with a garnishing of coriander at the top, with a dash of lemon juice. 

7.Kolhapuri mutton curry/Tambda rassa :

This dish is on the Top list of non-veg lovers.  It’s very spicy and vitriolic in taste, as Kolhapuri dishes are popular for their hot and spicy food. It is made everywhere across Maharashtra and other parts of India. So u can find it anywhere and taste it. Once you taste this spicy, red, colorful gravy, you will become its fan forever.
